A new interactive mobile TV service for the iPhone 3G launched this week, following a partnership between two France-based mobile app developers.
Rich application software platform provider Streamezzo teamed up with electronic payments service Atos to develop the Live TV application.
Features include access to Live TV through the embedded video, channel grid browsing, and an interactive electronic program guide (EPG).
Optional network dependent extras include fast channel switching, a video-on-demand catalogue, and personal video recording, including live catch-up TV.
Streamezzo said mobile operators can use the app to launch “a complete and competitive Mobile TV service to their customers in less than six weeks.”
According to Live TV’s developers, the app combines “the power of Streamezzo’s technology and of Atos Worldline in-depth experience in the telecom market with large volume hosting capacity.”
The Live TV app is available for iPhone users to download from the Apple App Store.
Versions for Android, Blackberry, Java, Linux, Symbian and Windows Mobile handsets are set to be launched soon.
