Finally, AT&T concedes to allow this functionality for the iPhone. A few months ago a company called NullRiver software sold an application called NetShare that let iPhone users tether their laptops to their phones. However, Apple pulled the plug on this application as it is said to violate terms and conditions of the developer program. This was done despite the fact that other carriers selling the iPhone around the world permit tethering. A lot of users were astonished and somehow, a bit irked by this move from Apple.
Last month though, Steve Jobs allegedly sent an email to someone who leaked it out saying Apple and AT&T were working on a tethering plan for the iPhone. The other day, AT&T Mobility chief Ralph de la Vega confirmed that iPhone 3G users will be able to use their phones as wireless modems at some point next year.
Well, now that this is finally allowed, will NetShare also be allowed back on the App Store? Or maybe Apple is planning to develop the software themselves? Well just have to wait and see.
