Ontela, a mobile imaging company based in Seattle, has secured funding from Hunt Ventures, Oak Investment Partners and Voyager Capital to market its PicDeck mobile imaging platform in 2007. The product has been undergoing closed service trials.
Ontela’s technology automatically, reliably, and securely transfers photos from consumers’ camera phones to their PCs and online image services. Studies show that 90% of photos taken with camera phones are never transferred off the handset.
PicDeck is easy to use, and is packaged it into a service that carriers and imaging companies can provide to their customers. The solution is expected to unlock revenues for both carriers and mobile imaging companies.
Ontela’s installer, on which a patent is pending, provisions new users in less than 60 seconds. Once it is set up, pictures are automatically moved to the user’s PC or web-based photo gallery. Ontela’s platform supports many popular BREW, J2ME, Symbian®, and Windows Mobile camera phones including Motorola’s RAZR® and Sony Ericsson’s Walkman® phones. PC connectivity is supported on Windows 2000® or later.
