A-list star Stephen Fry is best known for his comic performances in popular TV shows such as Blackadder and QI.
More recently, Fry has successfully turned his hand to serious documentaries and to reviewing hi-tech gadgets in the Guardian’s weekend magazine.
All of which means that when he chose to slam the Blackberry Storm, RIM’s first ever touch screen smartphone, technoheads were left wondering if it spelled the death knell for the handset.
Fry gave his initial impressions on viral social networking site Twitter, where they quickly spread.
“Been playing with the BB Storm,” Fry tweeted. “Shockingly bad. I mean embarrassingly awful. Such a disappointment. Rushed out unfinished. What a pity.”
Fry confessed in a later tweet that he “SO wanted to like it”, but terrible lag, inaccurate touch screen, and fiddly text input all make it impossible for him to endorse.

I still can’t believe that the folks at RIM made this phone without WiFi. In this day and age there is no excuse for that major oversight.
Also, this phone has gotten some bad press lately. I think alot of people are waiting on the Nokia 5800. The nokia might just blow away both the iphone and the Storm. Should be an interesting race anyway. Next year we’ll do it all over again with new models.
